If you enjoy travelling, then visiting Australia will open up a whole world of possibilities for you. The land down under has so much to offer, that a two week holiday may not be enough and you will want to come back again. Alternatively, you could do what thousands of backpackers a year do and spend months at a time there!

Totally Australia is unique because of the sheer size of the country. One day you could be in Sydney looking at the Opera House, and the next, after an internal flight, you could be looking at Ayers Rock.

With the European winter drawing in, and early snow fall, many people are looking to take a winter break somewhere nice and sunny. To travel somewhere that there is more than 8 hours of daylight during the day and that it is warm enough to wear a T-shirt and shorts.

Let's face it; travelling long haul is not comfortable at the best of times. While you might be desperate to get to your Sydney apartments furnished as quickly as possible, it will take you the best part of a day or more sitting on an airplane.

But is it worth the extra to go business class on long haul? The price gap is pretty steep and the high premiums are unaffordable to many budgets. But if you have the money to pay the extra, it is worth dipping into your pockets for it.

It was whilst staying in a holiday home that I had booked through Solmar Villas Spain, that the wife and I decided that we would take our next holiday in Ireland. There were several reasons for this, but the main one, was that it is the country closest to us, and neither of us had been there!

We decided that we would like to travel to Ireland independently, and so we started off looking for flights. I have to say that some of those cheap flights are CHEAP! We were lucky enough to find a flight where the cost was a mere penny, but to be honest with you, we soon realised that these duplicitous, so called cheap airlines, do rip you off with numerous extra charges. In the end it was far less frustrating to book through our main flag carrier and it did not work out much dearer.

With that done, we then needed to work out an itinerary. It must be said, for such a small place, Ireland has a lot to see! In the end, we just decided that after a couple of days in Dublin, we would hire a car and see what happened. (more...)

Living in the United Kingdom, we are quite fortunate that our nearest neighbours France and Ireland are two spectacular countries to travel too. From the Villas in France to the friendly bed and breakfast accommodation in Ireland, we are really spoilt for choice as to where we can visit and stay. Here though, we concentrate on Ireland.

Travel to Ireland from the UK has never been more simple, with many budget airlines offering rock bottom prices, and frequent ferry services available. In the past, if one wanted to drive around Ireland, it may have been cheaper to take the car on the ferry, but now, it may be just as worthwhile flying, and then renting a vehicle whilst there.

Certainly, after a few days in Dublin, having some form of independent transport is the ideal way to experience the Emerald Isle. Some of the villages are simply delightful and the people welcoming and friendly. (more...)

This year, what with the finances being a little tighter, the wife and I decided to put off one of our Wildlife Holidays in Australia and instead travel to Ireland and experience what the Emerald Isle had to offer.

It proved to be a wise choice as I have to say, that Ireland is absolutely stunning. We took advantage of a cheap airline deal through a company whose name I probably do not have to mention, and landed in Dublin.

After a couple of days sight-seeing in the capital, sampling the odd pint of Guinness or two, we decided to hire a car and get out and about in the countryside. I don't often like the use of the word quaint, but in this circumstance, I think it is justified in its use! (more...)
