It was whilst staying in a holiday home that I had booked through Solmar Villas Spain, that the wife and I decided that we would take our next holiday in Ireland. There were several reasons for this, but the main one, was that it is the country closest to us, and neither of us had been there!
We decided that we would like to travel to Ireland independently, and so we started off looking for flights. I have to say that some of those cheap flights are CHEAP! We were lucky enough to find a flight where the cost was a mere penny, but to be honest with you, we soon realised that these duplicitous, so called cheap airlines, do rip you off with numerous extra charges. In the end it was far less frustrating to book through our main flag carrier and it did not work out much dearer.
With that done, we then needed to work out an itinerary. It must be said, for such a small place, Ireland has a lot to see! In the end, we just decided that after a couple of days in Dublin, we would hire a car and see what happened.
Dublin was amazing and we had a good night out in the Temple Bar district, as well as seeing some of the sights during the day. A bit of a highlight for me was the Guinness brewery of course, although I was under strict instructions to behave myself.
As for the rest of Ireland, it was truly amazing, with beautiful villages, friendly people and stunning countryside. Visiting Ireland for a week was a real highlight and we plan to return very soon.
