Staying in touch With Australia While in Ireland

If you are like me and have recently moved to Ireland you may be missing home and want a cheap way to communicate. Perhaps you are taking a year out, traveling here on holiday, possibly even business or taking the plunge that I did and packing up and moving here permanently. Keeping in touch with your loved ones back home was very important to me and if you are the same then it is worth while checking out the different mobile broadband deals on offer locally before you travel.

Staying in touch thanks to modern technologies is now simple, cheap and straight forward if you bring your laptop or tablet pc along for the ride. You can stay in touch by email, twitter, facebook and skype all at very cheap and competitive prices. There are 5 different Networks to choose from, Meteor, Three, o2, Vodafone and eMobile meaning pricing will stay keen.

If you are traveling for only a few weeks you can buy a pay as you go broadband dongle that will enable you to access the web for only a few euros per day. There are weekly and monthly add on that reduce that cost even further if required. If you will be back and forward to Ireland on business then it is worth considering one of the contract terms available. You can chose from 1GB worth of data right up to 60GB data. These deals start from around 10 – 30 euro per month.

If you have recently moved to Ireland from Australia of any other country your best value option is to get a mobile broadband on contract. There is a 6 month option I found from o2 that gives 15GB data at the same price as the other networks, yet their tie in period is 12 and 18 months! A few of the networks are offering only 10GB of data at this cost!

I have received my o2 dongle in the post this week and have already used it in several places across the country. I found my connection fast and the set up process was as simple as loading a browser and web page. I found the website www.mobile-broadband.ie a great help in making my decision. They offer all the different deals and networks information free of charge. This is a resource worth viewing prior to your decision on selecting mobile broadband for Ireland.

Whatever way you decide to stay in touch I hope you have as great a time in Ireland as I am. Good Luck!
